THE ASK
Design a luxury chair — a hybrid between task and lounge — that explores the structural limitations of solid wood and aluminum framing. The concept investigates material constraints while experimenting with diverse finishes, textures, and color palettes.
APPROACH
Explore a frame design that blends traditional construction techniques with modern manufacturing, while pushing the limits of material thickness. Emphasize contrast between the seat and frame, and experiment with a range of materials, colors, and finishes. I drew inspiration from the Japanese Mawashi - the belt Sumu wrestlers use for support.
