Hello, I’m Justin

In my role as Senior Design Manager and Industrial Design Lead for Accenture’s North America IX Group, I guided cross-functional teams in creating connected products, spaces, and experiences - from smart wearables to advanced robotic surgical hardware and interactions. By fostering co-creation among designers, engineers, developers, and clients, I delivered solutions that balanced user needs with business objectives and brand values.

I’m now returning to independent design consulting. Prior to joining Accenture, I spent seven years contracting in the Bay Area, collaborating with clients, and design and engineering firms like Teague, Lunar, Belkin, and Matter. Whether leading a multi-disciplinary team, integrating into one, or working solo, I can adapt to the needs of any role, from Senior Designer to Design Director.

I earned my architecture degree (before my industrial design degree) from Jefferson University and worked for multiple architecture firms including Zaha Hadid. My architectural education profoundly shaped my design process, allowing me to approach challenges from multiple unique perspectives.

The Bay Area is home, where I live with my daughter and wife, whom I cofounded Save Sight Now, a nonprofit dedicated to saving the vision of children affected by inherited retinal diseases - a mission that has further fueled my inclusive, human-centric approach to design.

While I’m focusing on independent work for now, I am also open to discussing full-time opportunities.

I’m motivated by the opportunity to create products that remove friction from daily life and build stronger ways to connect, through functional clarity and emotional resonance. Have a project in mind? Let’s talk: justin@jporcano.com

Beyond The Work

Kicked a soccer ball most of my life, still learning to surf after 20 years, losing bedtime negotiations to a 7-year old. Founded a nonprofit close to my heart, putting my architecture degree to use on home renovations. Happiest under the stars or tinkering in my shop.
