JOY

From Scrolling Solo to Sharing Moments

THE ASK
Social media is anything but social, and our photos and videos are often scattered across multiple platforms. This project set out to design a connected digital photo album that shifts photo-viewing from isolated scrolling to shared gatherings, bringing joy back to the ritual of storytelling and sharing memories together. @Matter

  • We developed a photo and video sharing platform for a new startup, uniting hardware and digital touchpoints into a single, central experience. Our work culminated in an investor deck that secured seed funding, enabling the manufacturing and launch of Joy.

  • I was brought on as a contract senior industrial designer, I created the hardware concept that translated the brand’s story into form, establishing a distinctive product language and a new way to share photos and videos.

APPROACH
I investigated new form factors for a large digital tablet that would suggest and promote holding and sharing. Drawing inspiration from familiar paradigms like traditional tactile photo albums, the intent was to align with brand values while physically bringing people closer.
