THE ASK
Create a luxury chair - task and lounge hybrid - for a client that explores the limitations of wooden and aluminum frame construction. The concept explores the structural limitations of solid wood and aluminum, while experimenting with a range of materials, finishes, and colors.
APPROACH
Explore a frame design that blends traditional construction techniques with modern manufacturing, while pushing the limits of material thickness. Emphasize contrast between the seat and frame, and experiment with a range of materials, colors, and finishes. I drew inspiration from the Japanese Mawashi - the belt Sumu wrestlers use for support.
