CARNIVAL

From Concept to Production

THE ASK
Take eight early-stage wearable concepts - and a connected medallion - from design intent to production-ready (EV1) in under six months for a CES debut. This included sourcing vendors, selecting materials, working with engineers, and ensuring high manufacturing standards across multiple product types, materials, and processes.

  • All six wearables - and the connected medallion - were delivered on time and production-ready for CES, including Carnival’s keynote showcase, and awarded CES 2019 Innovation Awards Honoree. This execution enabled the successful launch of a flagship initiative, helping Carnival introduce a personalized guest experience unlike anything previously seen in the cruise industry, anchoring their broader push into connected, customer-centric technology, that enables premium guest experiences.

  • I oversaw DFM efforts, sourced and managed local and global vendors across soft goods, plastics and metals, and oversaw first article inspections (FAI). I implemented part approval processes (PPAP) for critical components and worked closely with injection molding and engineering partners to resolve issues, refine surface finishes, and validate tolerances. I also established gold sample standards and supported QA protocols to ensure consistency across the pre-production run.

APPROACH
I focused on parallel execution - driving DFM early, securing vendors quickly, and validating parts through fast iteration. I built tight feedback loops across design, engineering, and manufacturing to stay ahead of timelines, while enforcing quality through clear gold standards and first article inspections.
